$50,000 AgriTech Startup Pitch Competition
MEST Africa Challenge 2024 is open to early-stage agritech startups that have at least $5,000 in monthly recurring revenue for at least six months, raised less than $1 million and are less than three years old. They should be from key West African markets, including Benin, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Mali, and Togo.
The winning startup will receive $50,000 in equity funding along with access to MEST’s extensive global network, unlocking valuable partnerships, mentorship, and investment opportunities to accelerate their growth and global presence.

My name is Jean Pierre Twizeyeyezu, a young Rwandan who initially studied agriculture in high school before becoming a legal practitioner with various law degrees, including a Master’s degree in International Law.
Recognizing the crucial role agriculture plays in the Rwandan community and beyond, I have initiated a project aimed at training farmers on how to enhance their harvests through modern agricultural practices. However, to implement this project successfully, I require support. With the Rwandan population steadily increasing and agricultural land remaining static, it is essential that we manage our land responsibly.
By adopting modern technologies and sustainable practices, we can optimize land use and improve agricultural productivity. My project not only seeks to empower farmers with knowledge and skills but also aims to promote sustainable farming methods that protect the environment. Ultimately, I believe that investing in agriculture is key to ensuring food security and economic growth in Rwanda.
