The African Development Institute of the African Development Bank wants to create a critical mass of global ICT experts across the African continent. They have partnered with the Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation Knowledge Sharing Programme to develop highly trained public service professionals in information and communication technologies.
AfDB Next African Global IT Leaders Program
The Next African Global IT Leaders Programme will educate mid-career public employee professionals in African countries on new innovations and techniques in IT at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).
KAIST scholarship recipients have free tuition and receive a monthly allowance of KRW 350,000.

The two-year Masters degree programme in Information Technology provides integrated courses with Korean IT industrial companies through:
- Immersive classes and seminars;
- On-site workshops at at IT companies.
- Extended field trips to Korean history sites
After graduation, scholars are expected to return to their home countries to apply their newly acquired skills to enhance the development of their respective countries.
Application Requirements
The rigorous student selection focuses on employees working in the field of ICT in public sector institutions in the African Development Bank’s regional member countries. Applicants should have the following three qualifications:
- A Bachelors degree in an IT-related area
- Current work experience in the IT field
- A public official or an employee of public institution, or senior-level researcher at national research institute
Unfortunately, Korean citizens and African employees from private companies will not be considered for the scholarship programme.
